Several people have been killed and others injured after armed bandits attacked travelers along the Gusau–Magami highway in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by Hon. Shehu Musa, the Councillor representing Magami Ward.
According to the councillor, the victims were traveling from Gusau to Magami when gunmen ambushed their vehicle and opened fire, resulting in multiple casualties.
Exact numbers of those killed or injured were not disclosed in the statement.Hon. Musa extended condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured, as well as residents of Magami Ward.
He called on the people to continue praying for lasting peace and an end to the insecurity plaguing Zamfara State and other parts of the country.
Residents of the area have appealed to the government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward tackling the recurring bandit attacks in the region.
This latest assault adds to the growing concerns over persistent insecurity on major highways in Zamfara State.
