Atiku Submits ADC Presidential Nomination Forms

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has formally submitted his presidential nomination forms to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, signalling a major step in his bid for the 2027 presidency.

Atiku, who paid the ₦90 million nomination fee earlier, described the submission as a “firm and decisive step forward” in the journey to restore prosperity to Nigeria.

In a statement shared on his X handle on Thursday, May 14, 2026, the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate framed his ambition as part of a larger national movement for renewal.

“The march to restore prosperity and better days to our beloved nation took a firm and decisive step forward today at the national secretariat of our great party, the African Democratic Congress,” Atiku wrote.

He emphasised that his quest goes beyond partisan politics, positioning it as a collective effort to rescue the country from despair.

“This is more than a political journey; it is a national movement rooted in hope, renewal, and the collective resolve to save Nigeria from despair,” he added.

The Wazirin Adamawa called on Nigerians from all ethnic, religious, and regional backgrounds to rally behind the cause.

“I call on all Nigerians, regardless of region, faith, or background, to join us in this noble cause. Together, we will restore the promise of our nation and bring good times back again,” Atiku stated.

Atiku’s move comes as other notable figures, including former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, have also obtained ADC nomination forms, intensifying activity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The ADC has positioned itself as a viable platform for opposition forces seeking to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next poll.
