Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday appeared before the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Screening Committee at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
The former vice president, a leading contender for the party’s 2027 presidential ticket, was accompanied by prominent politicians including Senator Aminu Tambuwal, former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha, and former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami.
The screening exercise is part of preparations for the ADC’s presidential primaries. The party has appointed former Cross River Governor Senator Liyel Imoke to chair the Presidential Screening Committee.
Atiku’s appearance comes amid high-stakes jostling within the opposition party as it positions itself to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general election.
Further details on the outcome of the screening are expected to be released by the committee in due course.
