The All Progressives Congress (APC) has screened and cleared Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to contest for a second term in the 2027 governorship election.
The clearance was announced on Friday in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, following the successful screening exercise conducted by the party’s National Working Committee.
According to the statement, Governor Yusuf submitted his nomination and screening forms and was screened by a committee led by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, at the Plateau State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
The APC National Chairman expressed satisfaction with the governor’s performance and eligibility, stating that he has fulfilled all constitutional and party requirements.
“After careful screening and verification of all submitted documents, the committee is satisfied that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has fulfilled all constitutional and party requirements to contest for a second term under the platform of the APC,” Yilwatda said.
He added that the governor has demonstrated strong commitment to governance, party unity, and the development of Kano State, and has been recognised as the sole aspirant for the APC governorship ticket in Kano so far.
Responding to the clearance, Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the APC leadership for the confidence reposed in him.
“I am deeply honoured by the trust and support shown to me by the leadership of our great party. This confidence will further inspire us to remain focused on delivering meaningful development and improving the lives of our people,” he said.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, peace, economic growth, and key sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
He also urged party members and stakeholders to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections to consolidate achievements and secure victory for the APC in Kano State.
