Engr. Dr. Yakubu Muhammad Kingsly (YMK) has formally collected the presidential nomination form of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) for the 2027 general elections, signalling his intention to vie for Nigeria’s presidency.
YMK picked up the form on Thursday at the PRP national headquarters in Abuja. Speaking shortly after receiving the document, the aspirant said his decision was driven by a strong desire to ensure governance is conducted properly and that Nigerians enjoy improved living standards.
He made it clear he is ready to challenge incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the election.
Dr. Aliyu Abdullahi Jibia, Director-General of the YMK Campaign Organisation, described the move as a clear demonstration of seriousness and commitment to rebuilding the nation. He noted that the PRP was chosen because of its ideology and historical focus on the welfare of ordinary citizens and the less privileged. “We have shown the world today that we are the Peoples Redemption Party, and we are going to contest on the platform of the party,” Jibia stated.
Meanwhile, Dr. Maryam Ringim, the National Women Leader of the YMK campaign, urged Nigerian women and party supporters across the country to intensify grassroots mobilisation and membership registration in preparation for the party primaries. She emphasised the critical role of women in political mobilisation and assured supporters that a YMK-led administration would be inclusive, with strong emphasis on women and youth empowerment.
The development adds to the growing list of aspirants positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential race.
