Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has officially announced Kale Kawu as the consensus governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 election in Kwara State.
The announcement positions Kale Kawu, who hails from Kwara Central Senatorial District, as the main opposition candidate against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kawu is expected to face Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, the APC governorship candidate from Kwara North, in what is shaping up to be a keenly contested race that reflects the state’s zonal political dynamics.
The development comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to intensify across the country.
Saraki, a prominent PDP leader and influential figure in Kwara politics, is believed to be playing a key role in consolidating the party’s structure and candidate selection process.
Further details on the formal ratification of the consensus candidate by the PDP state executive and stakeholders are expected in the coming days.
