The Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled screening for former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday as the party’s sole presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports, the screening panel will include prominent figures such as former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, and former Foreign Affairs Minister Tom Ikimi.
This development follows Jonathan’s successful registration as a PDP member during the recent digital membership exercise directed by INEC.
In a related development, the Seyi Makinde-backed PDP faction also announced plans to screen a large number of aspirants on the same day: 748 House of Representatives aspirants, 198 senatorial aspirants, 112 governorship aspirants, and 2,122 State Houses of Assembly aspirants.
The party stated that one presidential aspirant is also expected to be screened during the exercise, scheduled to hold nationwide on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:00 am.
The screening is part of preparations by the main opposition party as political activities ahead of the 2027 polls continue to gather momentum.
