A former lawmaker has thrown his hat into the ring for the 2027 general elections, expressing strong support for direct primaries as the mode of selecting candidates in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The ex-lawmaker formally submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the APC ahead of the party primaries.
He emphasized the need for internal democracy, arguing that direct primaries would give party members the opportunity to elect candidates of their choice rather than relying on imposition or consensus arrangements.
The move comes as several APC aspirants across the country push for transparent processes in the lead-up to the 2027 polls.
