Blessing CEO, the Nigerian influencer, has addressed the controversy surrounding her public request for funds to cover cancer treatment.
The internet personality recently revealed that she was
diagnosed with breast cancer in January and asked the public for financial
support for her surgery.
However, the announcement was met with doubt, as some
accused her of potentially misleading people to solicit money under false
pretenses.
During an Instagram live session with radio host Daddy
Freeze, Blessing said she sought public support to prepare financially in
advance, even though she did not yet know the exact cost of the procedure.
She also disclosed that her surgery had been postponed due
to the live session, and that additional medical tests and post-operative care
would increase expenses, prompting her decision to ask for help.
She added that raising funds early was a way to avoid
reaching out for assistance later when her condition might be more critical.
“I was diagnosed with cancer in January 2026. After the
diagnosis, I began preparing for a mastectomy to determine how far the tumour
has spread. The surgery was initially scheduled for last week but was postponed
because of this live session with Daddy Freeze,” she said.
“I asked for financial assistance because I need funds for
the surgery, even though I don’t yet know the exact cost. Until now, I was
unclear about the full process. I was told that after the mastectomy, further
tests would still be needed to ensure the cancer has not spread to other parts
of the body.
“Some people also said recovery can be very difficult, so
asking for support is my way of preparing ahead rather than reaching out during
a more vulnerable moment.
“I don’t know the exact price of the surgery yet, which is
why I haven’t stated a specific amount.”
