Operatives of Sector 1, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued two victims in Agidi community, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to security sources, the incident occurred around 8:19 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2026, when suspected kidnappers were carrying out their operation.
The troops received a distress alert and swiftly deployed to the scene. On sighting the approaching soldiers, the kidnappers abandoned the victims and fled into nearby bushes.
The two victims were safely rescued and reunited with their families. No casualties were reported during the operation.
The development is part of ongoing security efforts by the military to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.
This latest success comes amid continued security operations in Benue to restore normalcy and protect residents from banditry and abduction incidents.
