Troops of the Nigerian Army have foiled an attempted improvised explosive device (IED) attack and killed suspected terrorists along the Maiduguri–Konduga–Kawuri road in Borno state.
Citing security sources,
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake
Chad region, said the incident occurred at about 11:30 pm on Thursday, April 2,
when an ambush team along the main supply route spotted suspected terrorists
attempting to plant an IED.
Makama said the troops swiftly engaged the terrorists with a
rocket-propelled grenade, triggering an explosion that killed them.
The publication added that the troops recovered two AK-47
rifles during a follow-up exploitation of the scene.
It said the troops have sustained heightened surveillance to
prevent attacks along the Maiduguri–Konduga–Kawuri axis.
