Omah Lay, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, has put out his highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Clarity of Mind’.
The singer released the 12-track body of work across all
streaming platforms in the early hours of Friday.
Songs of the project include ‘Artificial Happiness’, ‘Jah
Jah Knows’, ‘Canada Breeze’, ‘Water Spirit’, Don’t Love Me’, ‘Coping Mechanism’
and ‘Julia’.
Others are ‘Waist’, ‘Mary Go Round’, ‘I Am’, ‘Holy Ghost’
and ‘Amen’.
The singer began his career at 15, first working behind the
scenes as a producer before breaking through in 2020 with the viral hits ‘You’
and ‘Bad Influence’.
He put out ‘Boy Alone’, his debut album, in 2022.
His signature blend of Afro-fusion and vulnerable lyricism
has since earned him a dedicated global following.
He earned a nomination at the 2026 Grammys in the ‘Best
African Music Performance’ category for ‘With You,’ his collaboration with
Davido. They, however, lost out to South Africa’s Tyla.
The singer recently declared himself as Nigeria’s best
artiste of the last 20 years. He added he considers himself unmatched in
creativity and musicianship.
“I’m the best at this. I don’t mean to brag… but I am the
best in the last 20 years,” he said.
“If you bring together all Afrobeats artistes, when it comes
to true artistry and making music, I stand alone at the top. The only person I
sometimes put on the same level as me is Burna Boy. He’s the sole artiste I
look at and think, ‘yes, he’s up there.’ Apart from Burna, it’s just me.”
