President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.
The high-level bilateral meeting focused on strengthening ties between Nigeria and Chad, with discussions expected to centre on regional security, economic cooperation, trade, and joint efforts against terrorism and instability in the Lake Chad region.
The visit comes amid ongoing collaboration between the two neighbouring countries on cross-border security challenges and efforts to promote stability in the Sahel and West Africa.
Details of the specific outcomes of the meeting are still emerging, but presidential sources indicated that both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of their citizens.
The reception of President Déby underscores Nigeria’s continued leadership role in fostering good neighbourliness and regional integration within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the broader African Union framework.
Further updates on agreements reached during the engagement are anticipated from the State House.
