President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, held separate closed-door meetings with former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and former Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The two APC chieftains met the President individually, but the reason for the consultations was not disclosed. Both visitors declined to speak with State House correspondents after the meetings.
Ganduje, who served as APC National Chairman from August 2023 to July 2025, left the villa around 4:15 p.m., while Badaru departed shortly after at about 4:30 p.m.
The visits come amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, including recent resignations of some cabinet members and ongoing realignments within the ruling party.
They also coincide with developments in the North, such as the defection of former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and recent security challenges in parts of the North East.
No official statement was issued on the outcome of the meetings.
