President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday, April 4, 2026, commissioned the newly completed ₦73 billion headquarters complex of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A, in Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The modern facility, which includes office buildings, a training college, and supporting infrastructure totaling 142 structures, aims to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen revenue generation, trade facilitation, and enforcement capabilities of the Customs Service.
It will also serve as the new base for FOU Zone A operations, with activities previously centered in Lagos expected to relocate to Iperu over time.
Accompanied by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, President Tinubu arrived at the venue around 3:08 p.m. shortly after inaugurating the Gateway International Cargo Airport in the state.
He commended Adeniyi and the Customs leadership for delivering a "befitting and forward-looking" facility that aligns with Nigeria’s growing trade and logistics demands.
“I hereby declare this building open, to the glory of God,” Tinubu stated during the commissioning ceremony.
CGC Adeniyi described the project as a legacy initiative that would modernize Customs operations and improve working conditions for personnel, noting that the old Ikeja office had become inadequate after over 30 years.
The commissioning forms part of broader infrastructure developments in Ogun State, underscoring efforts to boost trade efficiency and capacity building within key government agencies.
