Southern Borno Youths Raise ₦38.5 Million to Back Ndume’s 2027 Senate Bid

Youth groups from the nine local government areas in the Southern Borno Senatorial District have contributed ₦38.5 million to support Senator Muhammadu Ali Ndume’s bid for a fifth term in the Senate in 2027.

The money, raised on Saturday, April 25, 2026, is meant for the purchase of Ndume’s expression of interest and nomination forms for the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.

The contribution, described as a grassroots initiative, was made at a gathering attended by about 2,000 youths. They cited Ndume’s fearlessness in speaking truth to power and his efforts to check executive excesses as key reasons for their support.

Coordinator of the youth groups, Alhaji Babandi Shehu, described Ndume as “not just a senator, but a nationalist.”Senator Ndume’s Senior Legislative Aide, Junaid Jibril Maiva, thanked the youths for the gesture.

He highlighted some of Ndume’s contributions, including the construction of 200 houses for IDPs in Gwoza and 80 houses in Damboa, and stressed the need for continuity in his representation.

The ₦38.5 million was broken down as follows:₦8 million from Biu, Kwaya-Kusar, Hawul, Bayo and Shani LGAs combined

₦5 million from Askira-Uba LGA

₦2 million from Damboa LGA

₦1 million each from the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Baga Road Maiduguri Timber Sellers Association

This early show of support signals strong grassroots backing for Ndume in the Southern Borno Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 elections.
