Shola Ladoja, son of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has dismissed claims that his father offered the Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, an APC House of Representatives ticket and funds for his governorship ambition.
The allegation was made by the Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, who claimed that Speaker Ogundoyin visited the Olubadan to seek support for his governorship bid, but declined the monarch’s alleged offer of a Reps ticket and financial backing.
Reacting on X, Shola Ladoja stated that he personally took Ogundoyin to his father at the Speaker’s request on March 25.“I was the one who took Debo Ogundoyin to Kabiyesi because he begged me to.
"Dear Chief Whip, you have just been used as a tool by a coward and liar. I will release receipts if Debo doesn’t do the right thing,” he wrote.
He later clarified that the “receipts” referred to records of their conversations, not money.
According to Shola, the Olubadan only gave the Speaker advice on the screening process and prayed for him.
“Whoever is spreading this rumour only wants to create a rift between Kabiyesi and His Excellency. Please leave us out of this,” he added.
Shola warned Ogundoyin to “do the right thing,” insisting he has evidence of what actually transpired at the meeting.
