A 25-year-old Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) operative, Adamu Ali, has been shot dead by a 20-year-old repentant Boko Haram member during a heated argument in Mafa town, Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to security sources cited by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred on Friday, April 3, 2026, at about 10:16 a.m.
The suspect, identified as Abba Gana, a repentant Boko Haram insurgent who was working under the CJTF structure allegedly pulled an AK-47 rifle and shot Adamu Ali in the chest during the altercation.
The victim was rushed to Mafa General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Abba Gana was promptly arrested by the local CJTF commander and handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
The tragic incident has sparked concerns about the integration and monitoring of repentant insurgents into community security structures in the region.
