Plateau Women Stage unclad Protest Over Ruler's Removal

Women from the Mushere community in Bokkos Local Government Area staged a dramatic nude protest on Thursday, April 16, 2026, demanding the reinstatement of their dethroned traditional ruler, Mishkakam Mushere Julius K. Diblang.

The state government removed the monarch earlier in April, citing his alleged failure to tackle insecurity and involvement in conflicts.

Supporters, however, dismissed the decision as a political witch-hunt, praising his efforts to restore peace and resettle displaced persons.

The women marched to the Bokkos council secretariat completely n@k#d, carrying placards that read “Bring Back Julius Our Chief.”

In a widely circulated video, elderly women chanted solidarity songs while expressing their anger.

One protest leader said:“We had to remove our clothes to protest and demand that our paramount ruler, Mishkakam Mushere, Julius K. Diblang, who was unjustly removed from office, be reinstated immediately.

This is a message to Governor Caleb Mutfwang that he should return Mishkakam Julius Diblang immediately or a big calamity will befall him.

The world has seen our n@kedn^ss, and those who understand these things will know that you don’t take a woman’s n@kedn*ss for granted.

Governor Mutfwang should better listen to us and bring back Mishkakam Mushere before it’s too late.”

The protest shows the deep cultural significance of traditional institutions in the area and ongoing tensions amid Plateau State’s security challenges.
