Former PDP chieftain Umar Sani has declared that reconciliation efforts within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have completely collapsed.
In an interview with ARISE NEWS, Sani accused the rival faction of abandoning the agreed “status quo ante” and proceeding with parallel structures and a disputed convention.
“Reconciliation has broken down. There is no more reconciliation. The idea was that everybody would return back to status quo ante, but that has not happened,” he said.
Sani claimed his faction suspended its activities in good faith for dialogue, but the other side pushed ahead anyway. He described the situation as an attempted takeover and said the matter has returned to the Court of Appeal in Ibadan.
He further alleged that the rival faction is working as an extension of the ruling APC to weaken the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
Despite the crisis, Sani insisted that the PDP still has legitimate national structures and expressed confidence that the courts would resolve the matter in favour of his group.
