PDP Faction Backed by Wike Rules Out Merger with ADC, Threatens Legal Action

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has firmly rejected any form of merger or coalition with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The group also warned that it would not hesitate to initiate legal action against any individual or group using the PDP name to pursue such alliances.

National Chairman of the faction, Hon. Abdulrahman Muhammed, made this position clear during the inaugural meeting of the new National Working Committee (NWC) held at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza in Abuja.

While acknowledging the right to freedom of expression, Muhammed stressed that the party would not tolerate actions capable of undermining the rule of law or tarnishing the PDP’s image.

“The PDP will take all necessary legal steps to address any conduct that borders on contempt of court or misrepresentation, in accordance with extant laws,” he said.

The statement comes amid reports that the PDP leadership under Turaki recently held a meeting with the National Working Committee of the ADC and some of its leaders. However, the faction’s spokesman, Ini Ememobong, described the engagement as part of an ongoing process.
