Only $50k, N13m Found in my House by EFCC not $13m’ – Aisha Achimugu

Prominent businesswoman and socialite Aisha Achimugu has refuted widely circulated reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered $13 million from her residence during a raid.

Speaking on Monday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Achimugu clarified that only $50,000 (fifty thousand dollars) and N13 million in cash were found in her house when EFCC operatives raided it.

“My house was raided, yes, but only $50,000 and N13 million naira belonging to my mom was found in my house, and then again, my personal belongings,” she stated.

She expressed surprise at the exaggerated claims, adding: “I don’t know where Nigerians got the impression that I had $13 million in my house. I’m not a bank, so I won’t keep $13 million in my house.”

The EFCC had declared Achimugu wanted in connection with an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

Her home in Asokoro, Abuja, was raided on Friday night in her absence, with her aged mother, children, and domestic staff present at the time.

Achimugu, who described herself as a law-abiding citizen, expressed confidence that the right decisions would be made in due course regarding the matter.

The clarification comes weeks after a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the final forfeiture of a separate $13 million linked to her company, Oceangate Engineering Oil & Gas Limited, to the Federal Government.

Achimugu’s team has indicated plans to challenge that ruling.
