Supporters of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso have merged their political structures into a new alliance called the OK Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement by Justin Ijeh, the movement’s National Publicity Secretary, the group described the merger as a strategic move to tackle Nigeria’s economic hardship, rising cost of living, and insecurity.
The statement stressed the need for unity beyond tribal or regional lines. “Nigeria stands at a defining crossroads,” it said, adding that the Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement has unveiled its national and state structures.
The OK Movement positions itself as a nationwide platform for systemic reform and national rebirth. It rejects “the tired politics of tribalism, regionalism, and religious sentiment,” and draws inspiration from the third stanza of Nigeria’s National Anthem.
The movement’s slogan is: “Nigeria will be OK.”It has invited all well-meaning Nigerians to join the push for purposeful leadership and good governance.
This development signals a major realignment in the opposition as political groups gear up for 2027.
