No Battalion Can Stop ADC From Holding Convention - Dino Melaye

A Chieftain of \e African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Dino Melaye, has declared that the party is fully prepared to hold its national convention at the Rainbow Event Centre in Abuja, insisting that a valid contract made any external interference impossible.

Speaking on the matter, Melaye stated: “We refused to leave Rainbow Event Centre because we have a duly signed contract. We paid in full for this venue for the ADC Convention, and we will hold it here. With a binding contract with management, no one could have stopped us from proceeding with the convention.”

He further asserted, “No battalion would have stopped the ADC from holding its convention.”The remarks come amid reports of alleged pressure on the venue’s management to deny the party access, with some ADC leaders claiming attempts were made to revoke the facility’s licence or disrupt the event. Despite these challenges, the party secured the Rainbow Event Centre in Garki, Area 8, Abuja, and proceeded with preparations for the convention.

The national convention, expected to affirm the leadership of Senator David Mark as National Chairman and other key officials, has been at the centre of ongoing leadership and legal tussles within the party, including issues related to recognition by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Melaye’s strong stance underscores the ADC’s determination to exercise its rights as a registered political party and resist what it describes as undue interference. The event was scheduled to hold on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Party officials have expressed confidence that the convention will proceed smoothly, describing the venue as fully prepared and decked in ADC colours.
