The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, has firmly distanced himself from any alleged plot to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.
Oyekola, who represents the Atiba State Constituency and was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the declaration on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday morning.
He warned that some individuals are attempting to sow division within the State House of Assembly and undermine the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms.
In a strongly worded statement, Oyekola said: “I, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, hereby completely disassociate myself from any arrangement or activity that has the potential to disrupt the peace of Oyo State. I was never invited, never consulted, and was not part of any such meetings or arrangements.”
He added: “I cannot and will not be disloyal to my boss, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde. I reaffirm my unwavering loyalty and support for Governor Seyi Makinde, his government, and his party. I remain firmly committed to the peace, unity, and continued progress of Oyo State.”
The statement comes amid unconfirmed reports of brewing tensions in the assembly, though no formal impeachment moves have been publicly confirmed.
Oyekola’s clarification aims to reinforce stability and unity in the state’s political landscape.
