The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has urged Nigerians to live in peace, show tolerance, and respect one another, regardless of their religion or ethnic background.
He delivered this message in his Easter greeting, shared
through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.
He also encouraged Christians to reflect on love and
peaceful living during the Easter celebration.
He said: “On behalf of my family, my constituents, the
Senate, and the National Assembly, I extend my warmest Easter greetings to all
Christians in Nigeria and around the world.”
Akpabio added: “As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus
Christ, let us reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that his message
embodies.”
He further called on Nigerians to work together for a better
country, saying: “Let us work together to build a nation where everyone can
live together in peace, harmony and prosperity.”
Speaking on the country’s current challenges, particularly
insecurity, Akpabio asked citizens to remain understanding and committed to
national unity and security.
He assured Nigerians that the situation will improve,
saying: “I want to assure Nigerians that we will overcome these difficulties
through collective efforts, understanding and prayers.”
The Senate President noted that “the Armed Forces and all
security agencies have been working relentlessly to tame the tide.”
He also expressed sympathy to victims of violence across the
country, particularly recent attacks in Jos.
He said: “I sympathise with families affected by the
mindless attacks by terrorists and bandits across the country, especially the
recent killings in Jos. I pray that the Almighty God will have mercy on those
who lost their lives; and console the bereaved families.”
He prayed for Nigeria to overcome the insecurity that
continues to afflict some parts of the country.
