The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared as fake a widely circulated result slip claiming that a candidate from Cross River State scored 394 out of 400 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The purported result, which went viral on social media, allegedly belonged to Okon Winniefred Sampson, a female candidate from Cross River. It was shared by an X (formerly Twitter) user @Onsogbu and quickly gained attention online.
In a swift reaction, JAMB described the result slip as entirely fabricated and surprising, noting that no such score has been issued by the board.
JAMB urged candidates and the public to verify results only through official channels, reminding them that the result checking portal for the 2026 UTME is not yet activated.
At this stage, results can only be accessed via the approved SMS platform using the short code 55019 or 66019.
The board warned against the circulation of fake results, stressing that such acts are intended to mislead the public and create unnecessary excitement or panic among candidates and parents.
This latest incident comes amid heightened concerns over result forgery, following JAMB’s recent arrest of two candidates and a parent for manipulating UTME results using artificial intelligence and other electronic tools.
