Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has convened an emergency Security Council meeting at the Government House following deadly bandit attacks that claimed the life of a police officer and injured two civilians.
The high-level meeting, which is still ongoing as of April 6, 2026, brings together top security chiefs to address the worsening security situation in the state.
In attendance are senior officers from the Nigerian Army, Defence Headquarters, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Federal Fire Service, and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Also participating are chairmen of affected local government areas, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other senior government officials.
According to reports, the meeting is focused on reviewing the current security challenges and enhancing coordination among security agencies to effectively tackle banditry and other threats across Katsina State.
The emergency session was triggered by recent coordinated bandit attacks on two communities in Matazu Local Government Area, where gunmen killed one police officer and wounded two civilians.
Governor Radda’s administration continues to face mounting pressure to restore peace and security in a state that has been severely plagued by banditry for several years.
