FG Moves to Link Police Stations to Fibre Network Under Digitital Policing Plan

The Federal Government has announced plans to connect police stations across the country to Nigeria’s national fibre network as part of a new digital policing initiative.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, disclosed this after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigeria Police Trust Fund in Abuja.

The initiative, tagged Project BRIDGE, will link police stations to the national fibre backbone to enable real-time data sharing and enhance coordination among commands nationwide.

Tijani said the project will also facilitate the rollout of digital tools, including artificial intelligence for incident response, case management, and predictive policing.

He noted that the move aligns with efforts to extend Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda to security institutions to boost efficiency and improve public safety.
