Edo State Partners Chinese Firm for 10 Million Metric Tonnes Cement Plant

The Edo State Government has signed an agreement with a Chinese firm to establish a massive 10 million metric tonnes cement production plant in the state.

The project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities and boost industrial and economic growth in Edo State.

Announcing the development, the State Commissioner for Information, Prince Kassim Afegbua, said the cement plant is part of the tangible projects being executed by the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration across the three senatorial districts of the state.

“The government recently signed an agreement with a Chinese firm for a 10 million metric tonnes cement plant, expected to generate employment and boost industrial and economic growth,” Afegbua stated.

He added that the administration has moved beyond rhetoric and is actively delivering projects in Edo South, Central, and North senatorial districts.

The cement project forms part of broader efforts by the Edo State Government to attract foreign investment, industrialise the state, and create jobs for residents.

It is also expected to leverage the state’s abundant natural resources for local production.

This latest partnership comes as the Okpebholo administration continues to focus on infrastructure development, civil service reforms, improved internally generated revenue, and enhanced security across the state.
