The Delta State Police Command has paid out a total of ₦16,679,749.92 to families of police officers who died in the line of duty.
Cheques were presented on Thursday to 13 beneficiaries as part of the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing welfare programme aimed at supporting bereaved families and easing the financial burden caused by the loss of their loved ones.
While presenting the cheques, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, described the event as both solemn and significant.
He reaffirmed the Force’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their dependants.
“Their service and ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty will always be remembered. The Force is committed to ensuring that their families are not left behind,” Oyeniyi said.
He assured the beneficiaries that the Nigeria Police Force would continue to stand by them and urged the recipients to make judicious use of the funds.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ahanuwa Raphael thanked the Inspector-General of Police and the Delta State Police Command for the gesture, describing the financial support as a much-needed relief that would help the families cope with the challenging period after their losses.
The disbursement underscores efforts by police authorities to boost morale among officers who continue to face serious security challenges and high-risk operations across the country.
