A mortuary attendant identified as Amaobi has been arrested by the Benue State Police Command after he was caught using the leg of a corpse as a walking stick.
The incident occurred on Friday morning at a mortuary in Agwabi, Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to reports, Amaobi took the severed human leg to a nearby retailer’s shop to buy items, an act that shocked passersby and drew the attention of the community.
Youths in the area promptly apprehended him and handed him over to the police.During questioning, Amaobi confessed to the act, claiming it was a deliberate demonstration to attract public attention.
He said he was seeking support to appeal to the government for assistance in evacuating over 18 corpses of criminals killed by security operatives last year, which are still deposited in his mortuary.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
