President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of attempting to privatise the African Democratic Congress (ADC), linking the move to the ongoing leadership crisis in the party.
Speaking while hosting a delegation of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the State House, Tinubu said Atiku’s alleged effort to take over the party was rejected, resulting in the current crisis.
The President stated that the ADC leadership problem stemmed directly from Atiku’s attempt to “privatise” the party for personal political interests.
Tinubu’s remark is the latest exchange in the growing political rivalry between him and Atiku ahead of the 2027 general elections.
