The Nigerian Army has successfully rescued 11 kidnapped victims in a swift late-night operation along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway, foiling terrorists' attempt to move them through a bush track under the cover of darkness.
According to a statement by the Nigerian Armed Forces on Tuesday, troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Doka used high-definition, long-range CCTV surveillance to detect armed terrorists escorting the captives along the Gidan Duna–Amale bush track on January 26, 2026.
The soldiers immediately launched a coordinated interception, deploying tactical vehicles and motorcycles in a high-speed pursuit.
Overwhelmed by the rapid response, the terrorists abandoned the victims and fled into the surrounding scrubland. The rescued group consisted of five adult males, three adult females, and three children.
They had been held captive for 92 days after being abducted from the Gada Mallam Maman Community in Kaduna State on October 26, 2025.
The Army described the operation as a clear example of its growing capability to integrate advanced surveillance technology with agile ground tactics.
It reaffirmed its commitment to securing major highways, protecting civilians, and ensuring criminals have no safe haven in the region.
The victims are reported to be in good condition and have been reunited with their families. No arrests were detailed in the official release for this specific operation.
