APC Targeting us Despite Controlling 34 States - ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of unfairly targeting and harassing its party, even though the APC controls about 34 state governors and dominates the National Assembly.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said his party remains calm and focused, while claiming the APC is panicking despite its overwhelming political dominance.

“We in the ADC are calm because we know what we are doing,” Abdullahi stated. “But they, the APC, after having about 34 governors in their camp and almost all the National Assembly, are still panicking. They are still sponsoring court cases against the ADC."

He alleged that APC leaders frequently mention the ADC in conversations, often to undermine it by calling it “comatose” or trying to instigate its members against the party.“They can’t have a conversation without talking about the ADC. They say ADC is comatose, it is this or that, instigating our members against us,” he added.

“Those who can barely afford to feed are now hiring Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and we say it just doesn’t add up.”Despite the alleged pressure, Abdullahi reassured potential candidates and members that it is safe both legally and politically to contest elections on the ADC platform.

“It’s not legally and politically dangerous for anyone to run on the platform of the ADC,” he emphasized.

The comments come amid rising political tensions and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. The ADC is positioning itself as a viable alternative platform, while the APC maintains strong control across most states and the federal legislature. The ruling party has previously downplayed the ADC as a negligible threat.
