APC National Chairman Visits Kano, Woos Shekarau, Gwarzo to Rejoin Party

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, on Wednesday visited former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau and Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo at Shekarau’s Mundubawa Palace residence.

The visit forms part of the ruling party’s renewed efforts to woo prominent political figures in Kano State amid shifting alliances ahead of future elections.

During the meeting, Nentawe appealed to the two leaders to return to the APC, describing himself as their “son” who needs their guidance and support.

“Come and help me, I am your son. I need your support, I need your mentorship. I am pleading with you to come and help me,” he said.

He urged those present to persuade the leaders to rejoin the party, emphasising the need for unity among northern political actors to build a strong alliance for the region.

In response, Shekarau commended the APC chairman for making a personal visit instead of sending a representative.

He noted that the timing was significant as they were reviewing their political future due to challenges in the PDP.“You came at a time we are also searching for a solution to the cancer that have infected us in the PDP,” Shekarau said.

However, he stated that no immediate decision would be made, adding that consultations were ongoing and they would communicate their position in a few days.

“Whatever we will do will be put on the scale of ‘Kano first’,” Shekarau added. The development comes three days after Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf also visited Shekarau at the same residence.
