Bayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, has not resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media, Bolaji Tunji, has clarified.
Tunji made the denial on Tuesday evening while speaking with TheCable, following the circulation of a viral resignation letter allegedly written by Adelabu.
The purported letter, which surfaced on Tuesday, claimed that Adelabu was stepping down to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
It was addressed to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.“The minister has not resigned. The letter making the rounds did not emanate from the minister’s office,” Tunji stated categorically.
He described the document as fake and urged the public to disregard it.Adelabu, who was appointed Minister of Power in August 2023, remains in office and continues to discharge his duties, according to the minister’s media team.
The denial comes amid a wave of resignations by some cabinet members and political appointees who have indicated interest in contesting various positions in the 2027 general elections.
