Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has boldly declared that no other politician can rival his vision for transforming Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday, Obi expressed strong confidence in his ability to win significant support from the North, describing the region as Nigeria’s greatest untapped asset.
“Nobody can do what I intend to do in the North,” Obi stated. “We will change the North. Our greatest asset as a country is in the North. We can make more money from agriculture than we make from oil.”
The former Anambra State governor emphasized his commitment to leveraging the North’s vast agricultural potential to generate wealth far beyond current oil revenues, positioning it as a cornerstone of his economic blueprint for the country.
Obi also used the platform to advocate for stronger democratic institutions, urging the government to actively support and protect opposition parties.
“The government should protect the opposition. In fact, they should make opposition stronger and make it work,” he added.
The remarks come amid ongoing political realignments and speculation about Obi’s plans for the 2027 presidential race, as he continues to position himself as a candidate focused on practical development and good governance across Nigeria’s regions.
