Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has set up political mobilisation committees at state, local government, and ward levels to strengthen the ruling party’s unity and rebuild grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committees were announced after a high-level meeting of government officials, political appointees, and elected representatives held at the Government House in Dutse on Sunday.
Governor Namadi explained that the initiative aims to keep the party vibrant, united, and active across the state.
The committees will engage directly with party supporters, listen to their concerns, address grievances, and bring back inactive or aggrieved members.
“We know the party is intact, but we need to go back to the people again, talk to them and explain what the government is doing so that people will continue to have confidence in the government,” Namadi said.
He added that the committees will focus on reconciliation, consultation, and sustained grassroots mobilisation to build stronger support for the 2027 polls.
Under the new structure, the governor will chair the state-level committee, with the state party chairman serving as co-chairman. Similar arrangements have been replicated at local government and ward levels.
The committees are expected to strengthen party structures, promote voter and membership registration, identify challenges, and foster better relationships among members and stakeholders.
