2027: Fayemi Faults Purported Endorsement of N’Assembly Aspirants

Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has rejected the recent endorsement of National Assembly aspirants for the 2027 elections, describing it as a “kangaroo endorsement” and a nullity.

Speaking at his hometown, Isan-Ekiti, over the weekend while hosting party stakeholders, Fayemi expressed worry over the activities of “opportunists” within the government circle, saying they have polarised the Ekiti APC.

He warned that current tenants (serving National Assembly members) will not be allowed to take over or hijack the party structure through undemocratic means.

Fayemi acknowledged that consensus is acceptable where all aspirants agree, but insisted that primaries must be held wherever consensus fails.

He urged all aspirants, especially those currently in the National Assembly, to be ready to account for their performance to the electorate before seeking another term.

Fayemi stressed that serious aspirants must face open primaries based on their records.

The former governor also called for strict adherence to the APC constitution and the Electoral Act to avoid post-primary litigations.
