2027: APC Group Pushes B.O.B. as Replacement for Gov. AbdulRazaq in Kwara

A powerful group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has thrown its weight behind the aspiration of Alhaji Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (popularly known as B.O.B.) to contest the 2027 governorship election, describing him as the candidate best positioned to correct the current lopsided developmental pattern in the state.

Bayo Yusuf Ige, Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government and leader of the “Like Minds” group in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, made the position known on Thursday while addressing journalists in Ilorin.

Ige acknowledged that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has performed creditably in developing Kwara Central, but stressed that the next governor must address the infrastructural neglect in other parts of the state, particularly Kwara South.

“If we give Bolarinwa the opportunity, the problem in Kwara South will be taken care of,” Ige said. He described B.O.B. as a tested and experienced leader who has served as a councillor, Local Government Chairman in Lagos, and Member of the House of Representatives.

According to him, Bolarinwa played a key role in the historic 2019 “Otoge revolution” that ended long-standing political dominance in Kwara State.“B.O.B. is prepared for the growth of Kwara State. He is concerned about the development of the entire state,” Ige added, noting that several ongoing developmental projects in Lagos Mainland were originally initiated during Bolarinwa’s tenure as council chairman.

The group urged politicians and citizens across party lines to support B.O.B.’s ambition, describing his political profile as “rich and rare” and built on merit, consistency, and genuine impact rather than money or manipulation.

On the sensitive issue of zoning, Ige warned against allowing sectional sentiments to override competence.“Leadership should not be zoned by geography alone, but earned through experience, excellence, and empathy,” he said.

“Kwara needs a builder of bridges, not barriers; a unifier of people, not a divider of interests.”

The “Like Minds” group declared that Kwara State deserves a leader who will not only sustain but significantly surpass the developmental achievements of the current administration.
