11 Boko Haram Terrorists Jailed for 40-60 Years


The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced 11 Boko Haram terrorists to prison terms of between 40 and 60 years each after they confessed to terrorism charges in open court.Justice Obiora Egwuatu delivered the judgment on Wednesday, April 9, 2026. 


The convicts pleaded guilty and were sentenced under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act.


The 11 terrorists are: Musa Mustapha, Ali Mohammed, Babagana Ali, Abacha Abba, Ali Abbagana Umar, Kadi Agwala, Yahaya Umara, Alhaji Ari, Goni Mustapha, Ali Modu, and Alhaji Fannaya.


They were convicted on multiple counts, including membership of the banned Boko Haram sect and providing material and logistical support to the group. 


The judge ordered the sentences to run concurrently from the date of their arrest.The court also directed that the convicts undergo rehabilitation and de-radicalisation programmes upon completion of their jail terms.


This conviction is part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to prosecute and weaken Boko Haram networks through the justice system.
