US Military Diverted to Sokoto After I Sought Trump’s Help’ – Rev Dachomo

Outspoken Plateau State clergyman Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the Barkin Ladi Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), has accused Nigeria's National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, of deliberately diverting U.S. military support to Sokoto State and other Muslim-majority northern areas.

This came, he alleges, after he personally appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump for intervention to protect Christians in Plateau State amid ongoing killings by Islamist extremists.

In a video message shared on Friday, Rev. Dachomo expressed frustration that the assistance he sought for his Christian community in Plateau was redirected elsewhere.

He stated: “When I invited Trump to Nigeria to come and help us, their blueprint was that none of the American soldiers should come to Plateau State.” He further claimed that the NSA “redirected the attention of the U.S. to Sokoto State and the Muslim-dominated areas in the north.”

Dachomo argued that this shift has allowed Muslim communities in the north to benefit from U.S. presence while Christians continue to face violence in states including Plateau, Borno, Kwara, Kaduna, and Benue.

“Now the Muslims are enjoying the coming of Trump and the American soldiers,” he said. “They are now saying Trump is in Nigeria to protect the Muslims. Christians are being killed like chickens... It has come to a time when we must stand up and defend ourselves.”

The claims follow U.S. military actions in Nigeria, including precision airstrikes on December 25, 2025, targeting ISWAP, Boko Haram, and Lakurawa insurgents in Sokoto State, coordinated with Nigerian authorities.

These strikes were part of broader U.S. efforts against terrorist groups in the region, with some reports of subsequent U.S. troop deployments or advisory roles in northern states.

Rev. Dachomo's earlier public calls for Trump to send troops to Plateau date back to 2025, amid reports of mass killings and what he describes as targeted genocide against Christians.

No official response from the NSA, U.S. authorities, or the Nigerian government to these specific allegations was mentioned in the report.
