I’ll Never Do It Again”- Popular Anambra Native Doctor Begs Gov. Soludo for Forgiveness

A well-known native doctor in Nnewi, Anambra State, Ikechukwu John Paul, popularly called Dr young chief priest, has publicly pleaded for leniency after his arrest and public parade by the state's local security outfit, Agunechemba.

In a viral video circulating on Friday, March 14, 2026, Aka Mmuo was seen begging Anambra State Governor Professor Charles Soludo and the people of the state for pardon.

He admitted to performing rituals at a river, including those allegedly aimed at helping internet fraudsters (commonly known as Yahoo Boys) by "bathing" them to facilitate scams and quick wealth.

Speaking after being paraded and taken to the river where he reportedly conducted these activities, Aka Mmuo expressed remorse and claimed ignorance of the law.

“I want to plead with our able governor, Professor Charles Soludo and all citizens of Anambra State. I didn’t know how the law works. I will never go to the River to make sacrifices again. I’m pleading with the governor and the Anambra government that there is a means of forgiveness, they should forgive me. I will never do it again,” he said in the video.

The arrest appears to be part of ongoing efforts by the Anambra State Government under Governor Soludo to crack down on illegal ritual practices, money rituals, and activities linked to cybercrime and other security threats.

Agunechemba operatives have been active in parading suspects involved in such alleged offenses, sometimes taking them to their shrines or ritual sites for demonstrations or searches.

De young chief priest , described as a popular figure in the local traditional medicine and spiritual community, appealed directly to the governor, emphasizing his intention to abandon these practices permanently.

No further details on formal charges, court proceedings, or potential outcomes were immediately available in reports, though the public plea suggests he is seeking clemency or a non-custodial resolution.

This incident highlights the state's broader campaign against ritual-related crimes and the promotion of quick-wealth schemes that often exploit vulnerable youths.

Similar cases in Anambra have involved arrests and sentences for native doctors accused of aiding kidnapping, money rituals, or related offenses in recent times.
