Troops Rescue Six Kidnapped Victims After Gun Battle with Terrorists in Kaduna

Nigerian Army troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully rescued six kidnapped victims following a fierce gun battle with suspected terrorists in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the operation was launched on March 14 based on credible intelligence about armed terrorists transporting abducted persons through forest routes in the area.

Troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gurara, under Sub-Sector 4 of Operation FANSAN YANMA, acted swiftly around 7 a.m.

They set up an ambush at a suspected crossing point near Sabon Kurutu Village in Kachia LGA.Upon contact, the troops engaged the terrorists in intense gunfire.

Overwhelmed by the soldiers' superior firepower, the criminals fled into the surrounding bush, abandoning some items.A thorough sweep of the area afterward led to the rescue of six victims.

Tragically, a seventh victim, a minor died during the crossfire as the terrorists attempted to escape.

Troops recovered three motorcycles believed to have been used by the kidnappers to move their captives.

Preliminary statements from the rescued individuals revealed they were abducted earlier that day (March 14) from Janjala Village in neighboring Kagarko Local Government Area.

They had been forced through forest paths before the interception. The rescued victims, along with the body of the deceased child, were evacuated to Katari Hospital for medical care and necessary procedures.

Military authorities have contacted the families of those freed. This rescue is part of sustained, intelligence-driven offensives by 1 Division troops and other task force elements to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks across Nigeria's North-West region.
