Troops Rescue Five Kidnap Victims, Seize Weapons in Katsina-Ala, Benue State


In a series of decisive operations, troops from Operation WHIRL STROKE have freed five individuals who had been held captive by kidnappers for periods ranging from 10 days to over a month in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. 


Security sources confirmed the rescues on Saturday.The freed victims were released after troops swiftly closed in on their abductors, leaving the criminals with no escape route. 


The rescued individuals include:

Babaji Muhammad, 40, abducted along the Chede-Takun Road and held for 10 days   

Sunday Yamusa, 45, held captive for one month and two weeks   

Annumba Obunde, 40, abducted along Tor Donga Road

Babangida Ibbi, 41, also taken along Tor Donga Road

Doofan Ahula, 54, held for one month and two days along Chede-Takun Road

 


In a separate intelligence-driven raid on March 13 in Mtam Village, Utange Council Ward, Katsina-Ala LGA, troops responded to reports of bandit activities. 


Although the suspects fled upon the approach of security forces, a thorough search of the area yielded significant recoveries:

Six pistols   

Five pistol magazines   

Three FN rifle magazines

One Dane gun

107 rounds of 7.62mm x 54mm ammunition

Three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition

Seven rounds of 9mm ammunition

Two motorcycles

One smoke grenade

Camouflage clothing and combat boots

Several charms reportedly left behind by the fleeing criminals

 

Major General Moses Gara, the Force Commander of Operation WHIRL STROKE, praised the troops for their professionalism, dedication, and relentless efforts in dismantling criminal networks disrupting peace in the region. 


He called on them to maintain the pressure against threats to civilian safety.The commander also extended appreciation to the public for supplying reliable intelligence, emphasizing that community partnership remains vital to achieving enduring security. 


Security agencies renewed their appeal to residents of Benue State to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to aid ongoing counter-crime initiatives.
