President Bola Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) to immediately commence the free distribution of rice across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The initiative is designed to provide relief and demonstrate compassion to citizens observing the ongoing holy seasons of Ramadan (for Muslims) and Lent (for Christians), when many are fasting and engaging in spiritual reflection.
According to a statement from Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, the program aims to strengthen national unity and highlight shared values of inclusivity and solidarity during this period of sacrifice and charity.
"The Renewed Hope Ambassadors will coordinate the distribution through our nationwide grassroots network, including state, local government, and ward structures," Uzodimma said.
"This ensures broad coverage, transparency, and that families across Nigeria benefit during the fasting season."
Both Muslim and Christian communities are expected to receive the rice palliatives, reflecting President Tinubu's commitment to supporting all Nigerians regardless of faith.
The effort builds on similar interventions, such as rice distributions during the previous Christmas season.
No specific quantities of rice were detailed in the announcement, but the focus remains on reaching vulnerable households and promoting togetherness amid economic challenges.
