Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has ordered the immediate suspension of civil servants found absent from their duty posts during a surprise visit to the state secretariat.
The governor carried out the unannounced inspection around 10 am and discovered many workers were not yet on duty.
He expressed displeasure at the level of absenteeism and promptly directed that those not found at their desks by that time should be suspended.
The move is part of Soludo’s ongoing efforts to enforce discipline, promote punctuality, and improve productivity in the state civil service.
According to reports, the governor’s action sends a strong signal that the era of lateness and truancy among public workers will no longer be tolerated.
Affected workers are expected to face disciplinary measures as directed.This development has sparked discussions among civil servants in the state, with many viewing it as a decisive step towards sanitising the public service.
The Anambra State Government is yet to issue further details on the number of suspended workers or the exact process for their suspension.
