Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, the member representing Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a resignation letter dated March 15, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman of Dogon Daji/Salah Ward in Tambuwal Local Government Area, Dasuki officially ended his long association with the party.
He attributed his decision to the prolonged leadership crisis within the PDP, which he said has severely undermined the party’s ability to function as an effective and credible opposition force.
“The persistent internal challenges have made it difficult for the party to provide the organized and credible opposition necessary for strengthening Nigeria’s democracy,” Dasuki stated in the letter.
The lawmaker emphasized that his move followed extensive consultations with political associates, constituents, and other stakeholders who share concerns about the PDP’s current state and the broader national situation.
By joining the ADC, Dasuki said he aims to work with like-minded patriots dedicated to addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic and political difficulties and rescuing the country from its present challenges.
He expressed gratitude to PDP members who supported him during his tenure in the party and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to serve the people of Tambuwal/Kebbe Federal Constituency, Sokoto State, and Nigeria at large with integrity and dedication.
Dasuki urged his supporters and constituents to remain steadfast as he embarks on this new political path, focused on contributing to national recovery and the building of a more prosperous and democratic Nigeria.
The defection adds to the growing number of politicians shifting to the ADC in recent months, positioning the party as an emerging platform for opposition figures seeking to consolidate against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of future elections.
