The Kano State Government has directed the immediate release and payment of March 2026 salaries to all civil servants in the state to enable them to prepare adequately for the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr (Sallah) celebrations.
The directive was issued by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and announced by the Acting Head of Service, Hajia Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, in a statement released on Saturday through the Director of Public Enlightenment in the Office of the Head of Service, Rukayya Sulaiman.
“The Executive Governor of Kano State has directed the immediate release and payment of the March 2026 salaries to all civil servants in the state,” the statement read.
It further explained that the early payment was intended to allow workers to celebrate the end-of-Ramadan festivities in a convenient and dignified manner, reflecting the administration’s ongoing commitment to the welfare of its workforce and appreciation of their dedication to state development.
This move comes as Muslims across Nigeria anticipate the sighting of the Shawwal moon to mark the conclusion of Ramadan and the start of Eid-el-Fitr.
Similar early salary disbursements have been announced in other states, including Kogi and Sokoto, to support civil servants during the holiday period.
The announcement has been welcomed by many workers in Kano, who often rely on timely salary payments to cover expenses associated with family gatherings, new clothes, food, and charitable giving during Sallah.
No specific payment date beyond the "immediate" directive was detailed in the statement, but it shows the Yusuf administration's priority on staff welfare amid economic challenges.
